Multi-factor authentication (also known as "two-factor authentication") is a process
that provides a second layer of security besides your password when logging into
online resources. It requires you to confirm your identity with two things – something
you KNOW and something you HAVE. You must PROVE IT’S YOU to access many critical
systems containing sensitive and private data, including but not limited to Office
365, CleanSlate, Portal, SEI and much more.
The simple online process to enable two-factor on your smart phone takes about two minutes. Download the free Duo Mobile app from your app store. Then activate your account by visiting login.wvu.edu, clicking the “My Login” button and following the instructions. You’ll find detailed instructions, a helpful FAQ and more at twofactor.wvu.edu.
Tip: To keep your secure login active during your workday, select "Remember
me for 1 day" at the 2-Factor Authentication screen.
Tip: Print a list of bypass codes. This is an option at the
website. Keep this printout in your wallet as a backup way to access online resources
in case you forget to bring your smartphone, tablet or Duo device to work.
